A MEDICAL JOURNEY
Human Anatomy
Human anatomy was covered in the Cardiovascular system in my second semester. This subject includes three aspects of anatomy:
1. Gross anatomy
2. Histology
3. Embryology
All of these are based on the human heart. We were taught to identify the microscopic difference between elastic artery and muscular artery walls in Histology. We learnt about the development of the embryonic heart during fetal life of 3-4 weeks of gestation. Besides that, we were taught to identify and list out the gross strucutre, borders, relationship, blood vessels and berve supply of the human heart.

Reflection:
Human anatomy was only taught in the Cardiovascular Block (CVS block) and not in the Haematology and Immunology (H&I block). I did miss the subject and was not use to the absence of the subject in the beginning of the second semester; and was really happy when we did it again in CVS block.
Personally, I enjoyed the anatomy of the heart very much. Study sessions with my friends help me to remember the course and supply of the blood vessels and nerves. Furthermore, I enjoyed drawing the microscopic structure of the heart walls, interior surface of the heart and also the step-by-step development of the heart. This keeps it interesting and lively for me.
I like it when we learn about the embryology of the heart, we are actually learning about our own "history" or "formation". It is indeed amazing how the human heart in the fetus is formed. Nature is really unique and interesting in its own way. I enjoy telling my cousins, who are pregnant now, the formation of the fetus. They too are in awe of how the human body is made. I will always remember the human anatomy and apply it in my daily lives.
