Clinical Sessions

Clinical session was first introduced in Semester 2, when we first started our system blocks. Hence, we had clinical sessions for Haematology and Immunology, and Cardiovascular System blocks. In clinical lab sessions, students are given the first taste on how the medical world would be. It is almost like a simulation of the wards and hospitals, where medical students can explore the clinical side of the medical course.

The lessons are carried out in both Clinical Skills Labs (CSS), where it is designed to look like wards in the hospital. We are always divided into three groups, and we take turns to enter the CSS lab. This is because the smaller the group, the easier for us to practise one-on-one physical examination. We are grateful to have Dr Narren as our Clinical Skills lecturer. He is very thorough and passionate about his work. He has inspired many of us to strive and be compassionate, professional and passionate doctors.

In both system blocks, we were taught how to perform general physical examination, specific physical examination, take past medical history, hand washing, gloving, CPR, measure blood pressure, indentify abnormal hear sounds etc. It is truly a wonderful experience and I personally enjoy and always look forward to CSS sessions.

Before we enter the CSS lab, we have to follow the required dress code and bring the neccassary equipments:
